Coolant Analysis

Coolants protect against corrosion and freezing and have a critical role in dissipating heat from an engine.  Coolant Analysis has the potential to identify problems that can lead to a cooling system failure.  Overheating can increase the rate of deterioration of the lube oil leading to poor engine operation and possible engine failure.  Although water provides the best heat transfer properties, glycol is used in coolants to provide freeze protection.  Normally it is used as either a 50/50 or 40/60 mix.  There are additional additives such as antifoaming agents and corrosion inhibitors in coolants which boost the fluid's protection capabilities.
